The cochlea is described as a 
portion of the inner ear that looks like a snail shell. The cochlea receives sound within the shape of vibrations, which reason the stereocilia to move. The stereocilia then convert these vibrations into nerve impulses which might be taken as much as the brain to be interpreted.
