make them equal to eachother to solve for x

-2x + 8 = x - 4

add 2x to both sides and 4 to both sides.

12 = 3x

divide by 3 to solve for x

x = 4

Now substitute 4 in for x to solve for y

y = (4) - 4

y = 0

Solution is:
x = 4, y = 0 or
(4,0)
