Why did germany's attempt to isolate france through the triple alliance fail?

Germany remained vulnerable to attack from both West and East when it loss an effective alliance with Russia.  It is also believed that Austria-Hungary, and Italy were traditional enemies so n one could help to boast a strong army for Germany's aid during the French attack. These are the reason why triple alliance, though existed, but was unable to be a success.
