Set up an equal proportion: [tex]\frac{1/4}{12}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{x}{60}[/tex]

Cross multiply to get 1/4*60 = 12x

Simplify to 15 = 12x

Divide both sides by 12 to get 1.25 = x

So she needs 1.25 cups of flour, or [tex]1\frac{1}{4}[/tex]
