Steps you should take to verify information found in a source ​include: CURRENCY (when was the source written; is the information old or has it been updated), RELEVANCE (does your topic relate to the source), AUTHORITY (what credibility does the author have; degree[s] and/or experience) , ACCURACY (is this information proven with data), and PURPOSE (what was the author’s purpose for publishing the source).
